Edwin Jackson is a prime example of why you don't sign a mediocre pitcher to a multi-year $50+ million dollar deal. Jackson has been 15-33 since signing with the Cubs and is one of the worst free agent signings by the team since (Danny Jackson, Dave Smith, Jose Guzman, Mel Rojas, Tom Gordon take your pick!)
