Gleyber Torres SS
Chicago Cubs' fans will get to know the name of shortstop Gleyber Torres very soon. Torres is an 18 year old shortstop prospect from Venezuela that is already making waves.
Torres was a key international signing for the Cubs in 2014 and was considered to be the #2 international signing in 2014. Torres is targeted for the Cubs' short-season Class A affiliate in Eugene, OR. of the Northwest League in 2015 but don't be surprised if he makes the jump to low Class A South Bend before too long.
Gleyber Torres has impressed already, he hit .279 with 1 HR and 29 RBI's, 6 doubles, 3 triples and 8 steals in 43 games with the Cubs' rookie ball team in Arizona in 2014, before bring promoted to SS Class Boise (where he hit .393 in 7 games.)
Torres also opened eyes in the Cubs' 2015 spring training camp, where he hit .400 with 2 doubles and an RBI in 5 games with the big league squad.
Gleyber Torres could have the same meteoric rise through the Cubs' system that Starlin Castro did in 2009-2010.
