Great Trades In Cubs' History: Bill Hands & Randy Hundley For Lindy McDaniel

December 2, 1965: Cubs traded RHP Lindy McDaniel and OF Don Landrum to San Francisco Giants for RHP Bill Hands and catcher Randy Hundley. Hands became the Cubs #2 starter behind Fergie Jenkins from the years 1968-1972 and won 20 games for the Cubs in 1969. Randy Hundley became the Cubs' rock at catcher for several seasons and was a 1969 NL All Star.

Lindy McDaniel had a few decent years as a closer for the Giants and Yankees, while Don Landrum was out of baseball after the 1966 season. The trade was made by Cubs' GM John Holland (who clearly got the best of the deal.)
