at Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL
The Chicago Cubs brought out the heavy lumber on Monday, blasting six home runs in the team's 8-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Monday night at Wrigley Field (heavy winds blowing out to Lake Michigan no doubt aided the home run barrage.)
The Cubs hit Cardinal stater Michael Wacha hard, while Cub starter Jake Arrieta was also rouged up a bit. Cub closer Hector Rondon gave up a two run homer in the 9th to Stephen Piscotty but the Cubs were able to hold on for the win.
Monday's victory gives the Cubs a 2-1 lead in the NLDS, with the ability to close the series out on Tuesday afternoon. Jason Hammel will start for the Cubs, while game one starter John Lackey will go for St. Louis.
